Grand Openings: Celebrate New Tyee & Evergreen High Schools This October

Celebrate Highline’s milestone: tour the brand-new Tyee and Evergreen High Schools at community grand openings, October 7 and October 9.

This October, the Highline community has plenty to celebrate with the opening of two brand-new high schools — a first in district history. Together, these grand openings mark a milestone season of growth, renewal, and community connection.

Tyee High School — Grand Opening, October 7

Tyee High School’s all-new building in SeaTac will open to the public on Tuesday, October 7, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

This drop-in event will feature self-guided tours, allowing families, alumni, neighbors, and community members to explore classrooms, labs, and gathering spaces.

The replacement project, funded by the 2022 school bond, opened to students on September 3 — on time and on budget. Absher Construction crews are finishing punch list items, including courtyard details and a new synthetic turf athletic field and track.

Evergreen High School — Grand Opening, October 9

Two days later, the spotlight shifts to White Center, where Evergreen High School will hold its Community Grand Opening on Thursday, October 9, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Like Tyee, Evergreen’s replacement project was funded by the 2022 school bond and delivered on time and within budget. Visitors will be able to tour new classrooms, labs, and student gathering areas.

Construction crews are completing the main entrance parking lot — expected to finish in November, weather permitting — and building new baseball and softball fields on the site of the original school, scheduled to open in spring 2026.
