The King County Library system offers both in-person and online tutoring services. While many services are aimed at K12 students, some are also available for adult learners.
In-Person Tutoring (KCLS)
The only current in-person tutoring in the Highline area is at the White Center library, located at 1409 SW 107th St, Seattle, WA 98146. Tutoring is drop-in every Tuesday from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. beginning September 8, with no reservation needed. Dates are listed on the Study Zone website.
Online Tutoring (KCLS)
Tutoring is also available online through two sources. For K12, the Study Zone website lists tutoring through Zoom, with sessions available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. Also, through Zoom, there are Reading Buddy and Math club programs.
A second online option is Brainfuse. It offers a wide range of topics for both K12 and adult learners. Get help with college test prep, school subjects, US citizenship, English Language Learning, and much more. Some services are also available in Spanish.
Note that all library system branches have computers that learners, both students and adults, can use to access Zoom or Brainfuse.
In previous years, in-person tutoring has been available at other branches, including Burien and Valley View.
Study Zone Volunteers Needed
The children’s librarian at Valley View said they have plans and are currently seeking volunteers to implement this. They are seeking study zone volunteers for Tuesdays 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and reading buddies on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
It never hurts to stop by a branch and see what’s new. Volunteer availability is key, and throughout the year, libraries add tutoring services.
