On October 21, 2024, the Port of Seattle presented the Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP). Comments and public feedback are due by December 13, but many people are unclear of the impacts outlined in this 4,000 page document.
Airport-adjacent cities have been hosting public meetings to help inform the public and gather feedback.
On December 3, the City of Des Moines hosted a Town Hall where they invited residents of Des Moines and other nearby cities (Burien, SeaTac, Normandy Park), to learn more about the plan, and how to make effective public comments.
Burien Councilmember Linda Akey attended. Here are her comments and suggestions to Burien residents and neighbors after the meeting:
Burien Airport Committee Special Meeting
Additionally, the Burien Airport Committee called a Special Committee Meeting where they will present their proposed City of Burien response on the SAMP.
They invite public comment after their presentation.
