The More We Love: Dedicated to Burien

The More We Love: Dedicated to Burien

by Katie Kresly.

During the January 13, 2025, Burien City Council meeting, the Council heard an extensive report on the city’s new co-response teams that partner mental health providers with firefighters and police officers. The “co-response” model is an innovative approach in Burien that provides emergency support to people in crises.

Reports from the teams and the Council were positive. They also agreed that one of their best partnerships in supporting the community was the co-responder outreach “in conjunction with The More We Love.”

Here is a recent video produced by Jonathan Choe, highlighting the recent Burien outreach efforts of Kristine Moreland and The More We Love:

The More We Love is excited to share our latest video, showcasing the heartfelt dedication and incredible work we’re doing every day to support those affected by trafficking, addiction, and homelessness.

Watch to see how we provide pathways out and continually support those in need, changing the face of public safety. Learn how we are connecting community with private, public and church resources. Learn how we are breaking silos.

We reached out to Councilmember Linda Akey who spoke highly of Kristine and her team during the council meeting. She further stated,

“Ending dangerous tent encampments in Burien was a top priority for me.  There was a multi-prong process of legislative action on camping in the city, zoning for housing options, collaborations in King County, and contracting with an effective service provider.  The More We Love has proven that the work they do every day to help people living on the streets with access to detox, treatment, housing, connection with family, and an ongoing human-to-human case management results in moving people into safe spaces and a new life.  This work continues to be instrumental in helping people move off the streets in Burien and saving lives.”
