Toll Setting for SR 509 & SR 167 Expressways Explained

Washington State Transportation Commission (WSTC) is hosting an online open house and two virtual public meetings for the public to learn about and give feedback on future tolling on SR 509 and SR 167.

Here is the WSTC announcement with links to each of the events:

In preparation for the opening of the SR 509 Expressway in Sea-Tac this year and the SR 167 Expressway in Fife in 2026, the Washington State Transportation Commission is beginning its toll setting process.  The expressways are new stretches of roadway that don’t currently exist today.

Details are below, and questions should be directed to the Transportation Commission at: transc@wstc.wa.govThe process of setting rates starts with the public, and the commission is providing a couple of ways for you to get involved:

  • Check out our online open house, which will be running through April 6. You can learn more about the tolling options for the expressways and provide comments in writing.
  • Two virtual public input meetings will be held where information will be shared on the tolling options, and the public will have the chance to testify. The two open houses will be held on:

The commission is expected to make a final decision on toll rates and polices for the expressways in June. If you’d like to learn more about the tolling setting process for the SR 509 / SR 167 Expressways, please visit the commission’s website.

  1. They don’t want anyone to use it do they kinda like the 405 debacle you got 2 lanes going through Bellevue that are going 5 maybe 10 miles a hour and 2 express toll lanes with nobody in them because people are tired of paying for stupid dot stuff
