A Community Invite to celebrate summertime & reclaim family dinners.

Having family dinners around the table on a regular basis is a value that’s being lost in society. Growing up, I was deeply impacted by getting to share a family dinner most nights of the week. No phones or electronics. We got to talk about life—what was going on at school or in the world around us. It was a time to laugh and enjoy each other’s company. To share the highs and the lows, the things we were excited about, or those that were weighing on us. It was a place to be transparent as we learned and grew—knowing that family was a safe place to not have it all figured out yet.
Not everyone had this experience, but even so, I’ve known people who came from tough backgrounds or broken families who were deeply impacted by being invited into the family dinners of another family. Taken under their wing, so to speak. A place to be known and to belong. To be stretched and grown. To experience family beyond just the bloodline.
God actually designed the family unit for this purpose. We were meant to grow and learn within the safety of a healthy family.
This summer at Hope, we’re making it a point to have regular ‘family dinners’. Every Tuesday in July and August, we’ll be hosting Taco Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 632 SW 143rd St. Burien, WA. Each week, along with dinner, we’ll have different activities for the whole family to enjoy—including things like music, campfires, s’mores, yard games, water activities/dunk tank, an outdoor movie, etc.
These family dinners are an open invite to the neighborhood. Whether you come from a Christian background or not, we would love for you to join us for dinner.
As you can see on the flyer below, one of the nights we’ll also be hosting a Healing Service after dinner (August 5). If you or someone you know needs physical or emotional healing, I encourage you to come. God still heals today. I know people firsthand who have been healed of things like cancer, autoimmune diseases, joint injuries, etc.—as well as emotional healing from anxiety, depression, and addictions. Obviously, no one has to stay for the service that night, but if you or someone you know needs healing, I encourage you to come.
You can find the activity schedule on the flyer below. Our doors are open. There is a place for you at our table. We love this city and want to see family dinners become the norm again!
We hope you’ll stop in and join us.
