Walk With a Doc – Takes Healthy Steps Every 3rd Saturday on the Streets of Burien

Every 3rd Saturday of the month, the “Walk with a Doc” South Seattle chapter gathers to take a stroll around Burien, taking positive steps toward a healthier lifestyle.

According to the website, “Walk with a Doc is a walking program for everyone interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle. You’ll take a few minutes to learn about a current health topic from a healthcare professional, then spend the rest of the hour enjoying a healthy walk and fun conversation. It’s a great way to get out, get active, and learn about health from a trained professional, instead of the internet.”

Since walking is an excellent, low impact exercise for people of all levels of health, most doctors tend to recommend it. Plus, this is a friendly, casual way to get to know your neighbors in Burien!

The South Seattle chapter (according to the website) is run by local family physician Dane Nimako, MD. You can find him practicing at a few different organizations around Seattle, but he runs the chapter independently as a way of bringing health education outside clinic walls.

The Walk with a Doc program was created by Dr. David Sabgir of Columbus, OH in April 2005.
