Summit Skates! is a monthly skating event, sponsored by Friends of Summit Atlas, a 501c3 charitable organization. Every 1st Thursday of the month from 4-6pm, 6th-12th grade students from the public charter school, Summit Atlas, enjoy roller skating and building community with their peers.Â

Parent volunteers escort a group of 40+ walking students from the school to Southgate roller rink, a mile away in White Center, providing access to those without a ride. The event is offered at a discount to all students and free passes are available to those with financial need.
This monthly event is an uplifting way for students to connect and stay active. With more and more time being spent on screens, Friends of Summit Atlas is committed to providing healthy alternatives, with equitable access.

Director Danielle Stubblefield is encouraged by feedback she has received from families who have had students attend the first four skating events of this school year. “Parents have shared that their child looks forward to this event every month and that they’ve made friendships and connections at the rink with people they don’t normally hang out with at school!”

To fund the event throughout the rest of the school year, Friends of Summit Atlas is asking for community support. A tax-deductible donation can be made following this Gofundme link, or through their charity link on Paypal. Â
They are now over halfway to their goal of $3,500 to fund the year!
