On November 11, 2024, the Des Moines Memorial Drive Preservation Association (DMMDPA) and American Legion Post 134 in Burien invite you to their annual Veterans Day observance.
This year, Veterans Day is on a Monday. Please arrive at 10:45 AM, as the observance will begin promptly at 11:00 AM.
Sunnydale Elementary School (also the home of Transform Burien)
at the War Memorial located on Des Moines Memorial Drive

Parking is available from both 156th and from Des Moines Memorial Drive.
DMMDPA President Rose Clark told us, “World War I ended at 11:00 AM on the 11th day of the 11th month, November. This sets the date to commemorate the end of the ‘war to end all wars.’ “
She added, “We are excited to welcome Brian Trautman and the Burien Exchange Club this year. Chris Plyman of the American Legion will be our speaker. Kate Bysheim will use her beautiful voice to perform the Star-Spangled Banner. Also, we extend special thanks to Transform Burien; Paul Ott always provides tables and chairs for the ceremonies. They serve a special mission in our community.”
After the ceremony, linger inside the school to view displays on the history of Des Moines Memorial Drive and to share conversations and snacks with friends and neighbors.
