Why I’m Running

I am running for Des Moines City Council because I believe in the power of a strong, connected, and thriving community. When I moved to Des Moines in the late 2010s, I saw a city full of potential. As a small business owner and community advocate, I’ve worked to make that potential a reality.

During the pandemic, I witnessed firsthand how local businesses struggled to survive. At the time, I was running my flower shop, Iris & Peony, in Burien, and I knew that small businesses needed a voice. That’s why I founded the Burien Business Association, helping business owners advocate for themselves and working with the city to create meaningful change. Now, as a board member of Destination Des Moines and a business owner here, I’m ready to bring that same energy to city hall.

Public safety, economic prosperity, and a stronger, more connected Des Moines are my priorities. I want to see our city invest in local businesses, improve our parks, and strengthen community programs that bring people together.

Real progress requires real conversations, even the tough ones. If we don’t address the important issues, nothing will change for the better. I’m here to bring energy, experience, and an unwavering commitment to our community. Des Moines deserves leadership that listens, advocates, and delivers. Let’s build a stronger future together!
