Thank you, Burien.News advertisers! You are responsible for supporting news and editorials that have advanced the health of our city. Where a business spends its dollars is a statement of its values. We are grateful that Burien.News advertisers support truthful news and promote people and policies that can bring human flourishing.
This year, we have seen our Burien City Council, under the leadership of Mayor Kevin Schilling and City Manager Adolfo Bailon, turn the tide on several destructive patterns.
First, with the ouster of disruptive council members who advocated for policies that destroy life, dignity, and the local economy, and with the election of moderate council members of peace and goodwill, the city has seen the end of policies that enable drug-addicted and mentally broken people from using our streets to die on while destroying the downtown business core.
Second, under Schilling’s and Bailon’s leadership, civility has returned to Burien’s city council, where meetings focus on serving the people who have made Burien their home to raise families and build businesses.
Finally, we have seen the scourge of King County Executive Dow Constantine and his agenda to destroy Burien held at bay.
These positive outcomes have occurred because good people, including our advertisers, have stood with Burien.News for that which is good, trustworthy, and honorable in our city. Much has been achieved in just over two years since our first publication. Much more needs to be done. We need your partnership to move forward.
We invite you to ask other businesses to support truthful journalism for the good of our city. We ask businesses to gently challenge their colleagues who advertise with any media company that promotes chaos and undermines good leadership. Ask why they continue to fund the “brokenness.”
We encourage all businesses to support local media that aligns with their values, including the shared belief that Burien can be the Gem of the Sound.
We realize options exist with media that do not share those values and vision.
Look carefully at the news that is reported and not reported. Look at the editorials: Do they tell the truth? Do they support good leadership that is serving the whole population of our city, or just a fringe few?
To continue to bring truthful and pertinent news to Burien readers, Burien.News needs your support. We ask our advertisers to hold local media, including Burien.News, accountable for the content on their site. If Burien.News goes down a path of error, we ask that you tell us, and, if need be, drop your advertisement with us as a clear message.
And to our growing group of readers, if you value good journalism and knowing the truth, then frequent and support the businesses that advertise with Burien.News.
