Stephanie Mora’s Re-Election Bid: A Vision for Burien 2025

Stephanie Mora’s Re-Election Bid: A Vision for Burien 2025

Stephanie Mora, current Council Member and past Deputy Mayor of Burien, announced that she is running for re-election to the Burien City Council in 2025. Mora was elected in 2021 to her first term on the council, so now with four years of experience helping to stabilize Burien, she is ready to help “keep Burien on track.”

The following announcement was released on Mora’s candidate website, StephanieMoraForBurien.com:

Stephanie Mora: Strengthening our city and empowering our community.

Vote for common sense, safety for everyone, and a leader who isn’t afraid to stand up and speak out.”

My work is not finished

I’m committed to common-sense ideas that keep Burien on track and continue making our city safer for everyone. I will keep standing up to those who try to bring harmful policies back into our community. If that means shaking things up, then so be it.

Supporting Our Police Department

We are fortunate to have a wonderful new police chief leading our deputies. Chief Calabrese’s vision, dedication, and leadership are already making a positive impact on our community. At the same time, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our deputies for their hard work, service, and unwavering commitment to keeping our city safe. Both have played vital roles in shaping Burien’s success this past year, despite the challenges imposed by King County.

While I fully support our police department and the important work they do, I am also determined to work towards a future where Burien has its own independent police department that answers to Burien, not King County. A prime example of an issue that harms our city is the county’s refusal to enforce our camping ordinance, despite a judge dismissing the county’s claim that our ordinance was unconstitutional.
