Burien, WA – Last week, King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) announced that the Courthouse Camp would be closed by October 15, 2024. It also stated that it would not allow any more homeless people to move in.
However, it appears that instead of reducing the number of campers, Burien’s Homeless Camp is still attracting residents, without tents, outside of the fenced in area.

Over the weekend, two camping-style vehicles, an RV and a truck with a camper and camping equipment, appeared on the upper parking lot across from the Burien District Courthouse. The smaller truck backed up to a sign that read “NO CAMPING,” then proceeded to unload its contents and camped overnight.

We will share more as we learn about the County’s plans for camp closure.
