This afternoon (July 9) from 4pm-7pm, DESC Bloomside in Downtown Burien is hosting its first summer open house at 801 SW 150th St, Burien, WA 98166. They “encourage our neighbors to stop in, have a snack and see how our new apartment community is coming along. The Bloomside team will be available to answer questions and to show neighbors what is happening now at Bloomside. “
On July 2, DESC Bloomside announced they “have signed leases for 33 studio apartments, with 1/3 of those leases being held by Burien locals,” which aligns with the percentage of Burien homeless people negotiated when the Burien Council approved the project in 2021.

DESC.org has new residents sign a Good Neighbor Agreement as part of their lease, so if you are a neighbor with concerns, your best contact to someone at DESC will be Brian, Bloomside’s Neighborhood Coordinator.

DESC Community Engagement Coordinator invites you to Meet Neighborhood Coordinator Brian:
“Bloomside’s Neighborhood Coordinator, Brian, comes to us with experience in providing services and support to clients where they are. Brian previously worked as a Behavioral Health Case Manager for DESC’s Mobile Response Team, which had him helping our city’s most vulnerable folks experiencing crisis on the streets.
“In his new role, Brian spends much of his work week out in the Burien community making connections with neighbors, businesses and organizations. His mission is to strengthen relationships and to network with key community members to spotlight inclusion and identify resources that will make the community stronger.”
